Grunts and Ramblings
Bored? Wy not read this entry - complete with LINKS to other web sites! What will they think of next? In this post: dwell payments cut, second life in the news, streaming music, FE's secondversary and the Dreams Fair.
Dwell - not to dwell
It's finally officially here - the end of traffic based dividends. This is of course meaningless to me but I feel for my land baron friends who do see a benefit from the stipends. Robin further explains that effective May 15 traffic bonus drops by 50% and June 13th it dies. Notice how Robin moves from talking about the 6% of new money that traffic bonuses count towards into talking about the 72% of new money coming from weekly dtipends. If I were a conspiracy theorist I'd start worrying about the 50linden stiped for basic accounts and 500linden for premium accounts weekly stipends.
2life in News
SecondLife is getting more main stream press. Here are some examples at my favorite geek site: http://games.slashdot.org/games/06/04/24/187259.shtml
Streaming Music
A great article on streaming live music in Second Life: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/columns/get-that-out-of-your-mouth/06-04-21.shtml. (Also an example of 2Life in news, of a sort)

Dreams Community Fair
In other news yesterday we held our Building Shelter special edition game at Dreams. The Dreams Community Fair has been fun to be involved with. The Sojourner was present for the full two hours of the game.
It was slow to start but picked up after a few rounds. It was so slow at the beginning that Mera and Travis popped down to the stage to build. This should have been expected though. It appears that people need to watch the game play through at least one round to get a feel for how it works. There should be no news there - it just makes sense. We ended up with about 6-7 active builders by the end.
The players were pretty much all new with only Jacek and Rainbow Drake being repeat players. Hopefully this time was well spent in getting the word out about the game.
During the game Travis, Mera and I took turns with the game running tasks in order for each of us to sneak out and spend some time in the Shelter with FireEyes. It was FireEyes Fauna's second year anniversary in the game. Normally I don't care for any form of celebration. I despise birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. However, it did not kill me any more than neccessary to simply hang out for a few minutes, donate towards a gift and show some support for someone who has been nothing but kind and helpful to me and to everyone he has come across in this game.
The Dreams Community Fair - is still going on. Stop by to check out the Shelter booth and others.
