One Large Tube At Your Service
I was recently asked how to make a circular prim larger than 10x10. I don't know. Today Mera grabbed the assistance of Lethe Naumova. Lethe Naumova is a furry avatar wearing person. I still say it's a rat. A very helpful rat. Instructions and a pic below the fold.
"Lethe Naumova: start with a tube
Lethe Naumova: max out the size
Lethe Naumova: set both twists to 90
Lethe Naumova: and the hole size Y 0.05
Mera Pixel: the trick is it's like 20x20
Mera Pixel: planar mapping...fun
Lethe Naumova: It's around 19x19, maybe 19.5
Lethe Naumova: it would be 20 if you could set hole size to 0.0
You: You guys mind me copying the chat window from the tube planar discussion?
Lethe Naumova: Sure
Mera Pixel: I dont' mind"
Here's a screen shot of our large tube prims:
On an unrelated topic here's a pic of Lethe showing off a craft she created:
And another:
Lethe built the project from a few reference pictures. At Mera's urging Lethe was nice enough to show me the ref pics. Check this out:
And this:
"Mera Pixel: I think it's super sweet how she did that!
Lethe Naumova: The two planes are actually different, I kinda split the difference.
Mera Pixel: I didn't even notice the texture on the plane in the picture
Lethe Naumova: It's a subtle thing, but I like subtle. I emphasized it a bit more on mine."
Dolmere says: 'Job well done, rat"
Note: I'm told that's not nice. Apparently her avatar is not of a rat. On first glane it looks like a rat to me. Either way Lethe strikes me as a pretty nice character so I'll have to go and do something silly like potentially offend her by not "getting" her avatar. It's my nature.
I asked Lethe and in fact she is a "Jogauni".
"You: Sorry I asked now
You: Is that actually a sub-species of rat then?
Lethe Naumova: Heh, doesn't exist outside of SL, but genericly canine."
Comments
That's one nice-lookin' plane. Those ref pics, where are they from? I like the color scheme too.
"Jogauni"... learn something new every day.
