My Sponsors Series: Kim Anubis
My second sponsor for Building Shelter was also discovered using the forums. Kim had also replied to another game creator saying that she would be willing to offer assistance. Just before I heard back from Ciera I had decided the same thing about Kim - could not hurt to contact her and just check if she's still interested in offering help. These people are clearly community minded as they both offered support to startups in the forums.
Kim replied in short order. She asked for some information about the game show. I had already done alpha/beta testing so I could describe the flow of the game and show people entries made during the event.
Kim chose to underwrite the cost of one prize per week and also sent along some of her creations to be used as door prizes. I distribute one or two of Kim's objects each week to random audience members or players.
Kim has attended several games of Building Shelter. After attending the first time she expressed how impressed she was with the show. She can't make a skeleton blush but she came close with kind words about the quality of the experience. Since then she has doubled her sponsorship and remains an avid supporter. After seeing the game played for the first time she expressed how she had been looking for something to throw support behind recently and is glad we came along. I'm paraphrasing as I did not save the conversation. Am I allowed to paraphrase? Since this is my blog I'll answer yes and move on...
Here is a shot of the both of us at the Shelter. Thanks to a tricky camera angle it really looks like I'm looming over her. The skeleton is a rather tall avatar it's about 7ft - I think the problem is that there's no skin to stunt its growth.

Visit Kim's shop to support her by buying some of her fine merchandise. You will find the store on the first floor of the Empire State Building across from the park in Chase's Manhatten. I replaced my no-mod freebie tophat I started wearing with my skeleton avatar with a full mod tophat that Kim made and sells in her shop.
