My Sunday

Mera held her 3PM basic building class at the Shelter yesterday. She teaches this class on Fridays at NCI and added Sundays at the Shelter starting this week. The turn out was quite nice and the class went quite well. Here are some pictures and some discussion about Mera's class, Building Shelter and Payment Podium all held yesterday.

In the first snapshot we see Mera getting started. You can see that the audience stands have quite a few folks, a nice turn out indeed.

A shot from Mera's angle to show that intimidating audience waiting to learn all about building in Second Life!

What have we here? Some residents are creating prims to work with already.

More people joining and Mera has the building tools emulation prim rezzed for this portion of the demonstration.

Towards the end of her class she had the following to say -

Mera Pixel: "Familiarity is the first step towards inspiration."

Hmm... I had heard something else about familiarity - but we'll take her word for it.

After the basic building class Mera stepped aside and it was time for me to host Building Shelter. I put out my latest donation coffin to collect spare change. Recently Mera and I decided to forgo the shared tip jar wall hanging so that she can use her tip bear, I can use my donation coffin, and we can share one auto-rezzer to lay out the stage. My audio stream was running smoothly and I had a few listeners - all going well.

Then Jon Marlin stopped in to watch the game! Woot! Jon is a major sponsor of the game and last night was the first time he was able to see it in action.

Here is another shot higlighting Jon Marlin, Travis Lambert and Coal Nelson sitting next to each other. I truly hope that Jon enjoyed his time.

Jon's generosity in helping to keep the game running and the prizes high is greatly appreciated. I suspect that I'm not the only one who feels that way. Visit Jon's shop in Horseshoe (226, 18)

After the four rounds of Building Shelter it was time to host Payment Podium. Switch over consists of shifting mental gears, delete the game stage, rez the PP stage and my stage dressing object, switch out HUDs and get the questions cards and camera angle correct. It was a fun game and several folks walked away with winnings.

During the course of both games my audio picked up listeners. We peaked at 19 listeners and I'm told streamed about a gig of data through the evening. Several people took me up on my offer to take requests via IM and I was able to fill most requests.

Here are the song requests I could not fill:
Macarena - a dance song that started as a latin sensation
Too Sexy for my Shirt - a dance song by Right Said Fred
The World is not Enough - a James Bond theme song

I don't download songs, I rip them from CD. I'll work on getting these songs at some point. I know that I cannot own all the possible songs people might request. I will get requests for songs I wish I had. That might be a good nudge to get me out shopping for some CDs.
