Completely Random Mumblings
Here are some random thoughts as they happened :)
Coal has posted some more pictures of Mera's building class she held last week. Mera did say she was working on some new props for this week's basic building class at the Shelter.
I sold my first land! Woot! I'm officially a vagrant again and loving it. I made a tidy profit from the transaction and have now donated my premium account's 512 sq.m. to the Shelter Infrastructure group.
I did not get around to posting any entries on slexchange yesterday. Instead I got the new Wed/Thursday game entries into the in-world freebie vendor. Luckily Coal has been helping tremendously by doing the first round of edits and prepping the in-world vendor's settings. Actually getting the items into the vendor, verifying them and doing any small fixes has become an insanely time consuming task. I've decided to finally drop some old entries out of the in-world vendor to see if that helps the management turn around times at all. So the current in-world vendors on display are the first to have trimmed off older entries. I knew that it would have to happen eventually. The good news is that any items that have been posted to SLX but removed from the in-world vendors will still be available for "purchase" at any time!
If you haven't noticed Coal has changed the look of her blog again.
Today is Sunday so that means I'll be hosting Building Shelter and Payment Podium tonight as well as doing my live DJ radio stream thingie. I'm looking forward to it. Tonight I'm going to try using the party shuffle playlist instead of simply a straight regular playlist. We'll see if this allows me more or less control.
Huh - two problems today. First Coal's blog service had another permissions issue so I could not post new entries. This is really not a big deal. As you can see I just rant anyway and from what I read elsewhere no one likes self centered rambling ranting blogs. Further it's a free service she is offering me so if it works 5% of the time I'm 5% of the time richer and glad of it. The second problem is that the second life grid went down again. This is annoying. I wonder if it was yet another push script attack. I've been caught in about 5 since I started and heard of friends caught in a dozen more. Any time you give some form of control to another there is the chance for abuse. I really wish there was a way to limit these attacks, but I don't want that limit to come at the expense of useful features. Time will tell - hopefully someone at LL is smart enough to find a solution for us.
The grid went down right around the time that Mera was supposed to start her second rendition of her basic building class at the Shelter as far as I can tell. I'm incredibly disappointed for her on that front. I hope it comes back up and is stable in time for my Sunday games. From Robin's post it looks like it'll be a few hours before it's back up - which likely takes us right past Building Shelter. First griefer related game cancellation for me!
I know it's pathetic that I sat here for over two hours refreshing the status page every 5 minutes or so. It's also sad to watch your planned activity time go by without any means of connecting to the world where that activity is supposed to be occuring. I passed the rest of the time watching Etta James at Austin City Limits. At least that was time well spent ;)
All I can hope for at this point in this post is for the grid to come up in time for me for Payment Podium. Fingers crossed.
Hahaa, while checking in I saw a reply to Torley's post in the Announcements forum. Check in there and guess what? The Preview Grid is down! Great - it's not only not getting better, it's getting worse! Hahaa - maybe I should uncross my fingers about now.
Just a week or so ago I tried to attend a Payment Podium that Sumar was hosting and the sim - Wingo - went down about 3 times or more in the middle of the game. She was able to recover and continue but I recall thinking how rough that must be, to have the technology you're relying on as a platform to hold this event just die out from under you. Not die once, not die permanently, but die and restart several times. Ack.
10 minutes to 6pm SLTime and Torley has just replied to the announcement entry. Grid is still down. They're still working on it. Ack^2.
Almost 20 minutes after 6 game time. Almost half of the trivia game time gone.
5 minutes to 7 game time. Payment Podium should be calling the last contestant up about now. Nice.
I went ahead and setup my stream to play with my "no recent play" iTunes playlist. I was listening to my tracks and someone could have joined in if they chose to. No one did and there was no mechanism in place to take requests of course (from the no one that was listening). Hahaa.
7:08 game time - looks like the grid is open again. Woot. Let's see if I can get in.
OK - back into the game. I'm working with Travis testing a HUD for Payment Podium that he's been working on. Coal also got the blog permissions fixed so life is good again. Nevermind, nothing to see here, move along folks!
