Another Friday Night
On Fridays Jaycatt and Frogg tend to play a show. I caught their show again this week at "The Gathering" in Iris. Typically great performance, yet again :) Just love getting a chance to listen to them perform.
That reminds me I've not seen Melvin Took do a full set recently. I've seen him one and a half times and would like to catch his performances a bit more.
Tonight Coal Nelson, Jacek Antonelli and Celeste Conover joined me in Iris. Excellent company, I'm glad they decided to come along and enjoy the set with me.
On a completely different note I managed to get some work done on my jukebox project. I've been scripting a web page and in-world jukebox combination. The concept is calmtommy Lowell's. ct is handling sales along with Pam Ponzu (who has had some bad luck with accounts since joining SL and is on her third identity, unfortunately.) Speedy Dangle made the jukebox itself which is a very pretty build with textures in motion and a real nice feel to it. Nokia Latrell has been a beta tester and has had some great input. Nokia and Pam have also uploaded some songs to the web database as well - as of today we're at about 300 songs in the catalog!
The jukebox project is definitely one of the things that has kept me away from this blog and away from posting new slx entries. Well, y'know, other than simple procrastication. With the limited time I have to put into this virtual environment I've found myself scripting or thinking about scripting for this project most of the time since I took it on. It's a fun project though. It's full of stimulating challenges so I'm not complaining. I have a HUGE hit list to get to and I'm trying to prioritize it. I'm currently attmepting to break the list into components that I can chew on in stages. I can then work on releasing each stage as it is completed. Many of the todo items rely on others being in place though, so it's tough to do.
Here I am hanging out with calmtommy and Nokia:
One of the things about the jukebox project that has been the most frustrating is discovering where the problem lies. Is it the LSL script choking up? Because we all know that happens. Was it the web hosting service refusing to play nice? Because we all know that can happen with web hosts. Was it a bug in the Second Life client? Oh yes, it was a bug! File a bug report and hear nothing back about it. All is well, go back about your business and try to remember to be careful not to introduce the workflow that lead up to the very reproducible bug. Also try not to complain about the missing features that would make things that much simpler and negate the need for a bug fix in the first place :)
Wow - did I get off on a tangent there! How can anyone read this drivel? Well, at least I have my jukebox project to entertain me for the coming weeks :)
After the show I added Jaycatt to my friends list. Dunno why it took me so long to do that! I think I'm rather conservative with my friends list actually and it takes a while for me to get around to remembering to add someone I consider a friend.
Coal, Jacek, Celeste and I retired to Coal's skybox to listen to my iTunes feed for a bit. I also invited Dan Gerstort over and we hung about and chatted for a bit.
Dan informed us that he's setting up rental space on his land, both store space and apartment space. I also debuted the copy of the Lazy Duck clinger that Coal made for Dan. Dan gave me a copy - it's very cute. The little duckling is sitting in an inner tube drinking a martini! How cute.
Here's a pic of me with my typical I-can't-see-my-avatar blob wearing the duck:

By all the Gods of Yummy Things! That duck is seriously cute... I need to brainstorm something for Coal to make me... wait. I just got it. Thanks, Cousin Dol!
