Anniversary Party At The Shelter Ramble
This weekend was a fine one for me. The Shelter celebrated its two year anniversary on Sunday. I was in and out all day so was only able to observe a bit here and there.
Some of the good stuff that happened on Sunday was that all the typical games were played, Lars and Sumar setup for the official celebration party thing and Reina unveiled the Shelter personality auction.
Mera did cancel her 3PM building 101 class. It made perfect sense since 12-2 party was still going on and there would have been too much general chatter for an attendee to stay focused and learn. Mera did host Building Shelter at 4:30. I wasn't sure I would be online at that time so it was great for her to cover for me. During Building Shelter I started streaming some music and debuted the new "doltunes" request website that she made for me. I also collected entries and paid out the 20L per player for those who created valid entries. The new payout model is going strong on its second week - I hope people appreciate this change. I must say thanks to Salem Penguin who is our new sponsor with his game SLictionary. I'll also say thanks to Dan Gerstort who has doubled his weekly sponsorship for Building Shelter. The two of them have made the new 20L per entry payout model possible.
Payment Podium was a fun one. We had several first time players and many fun jokes were exchanged during the course of the show. I donated all tips received during the game back to the Shelter as a birthday present. I was still streaming music through the game and got some great requests. Dixie Starr was particularly requesty and was cute enough to request the Happy Birthday song.
Between the games I got a chance to play Kashmir for Reina Q. Not sure if she was listening or noticed. I've been trying to go through the songs on the doltunes request website and selectively remove songs over 7 minutes in length. It's just too common to get a request for a 12-25 minute long song while DJing for a one hour lng event.
Early in the day Sumar and Lars were prepping for the 12-2 party. Lars put out a money ball which was cute. Sumar put out a table with party hats and streamers and some balloon posters were thrown up on the walls. When the money ball paid me I tried to give that amount to everyone in the Shelter - used to love when Lars did that back when there was a money ball out all the time.
The work that Reina has done on the Shelter personlity auction seems to be paying off. FireEyes placed his posters in a nice crescent shape on the main stage floor behind the line dance area. Last I saw Jaycatt and Travis were carrying 5000L bids. The way it works is that the winning bidder gets about an hour of time with the person on auction - most are offering some form of service during that time. For instance Travis is offering scripting while Lars is offering to create 10 custom poses, Jaycatt is offering a personal concert. I'm offering an hour of personal request radio time. As I suspected I'm pulling up the rear with a bid of 500L. I'm pretty sure that was the bid I put in on myself to avoid looking totally and entirely unwanted :)
If you have a few spare lindens and want to support the Shelter please stop by the line dance area and check out the Shelter personality auction. All the others are actually worth spending time with.

Don't buy into his lies, readers! Dolmere has not once placed a bid on himself. ;P And he's doing much better than he lets on!
Argh, I completely missed Kashmir, and I'm not sure how. If you played it between BuShel and PP I was definitely still in the Shelter at the time. My lone shot, blown. Thank you anyway, though!
