Cadroe Murphy
A rather interesting series of events unfolded as soon as I logged in this morning.
I was revieweing Tao Takashies World of SL aggregator and catching up on the night's blogging activity. One of the entries was to a SLUrl. Normally I would just close the window since I clicked the link expecting to read a blog entry, not to find a reference to an in-world location. However, in this case the link was to "ShapeGen. Cadroe Murphy's fabulous tool for making spheres and rings of enormous size. Pick it up for a measly $L1." I've picked up earlier versions of ShapeGen and have had instances where I was asked how to make large prims and was unsure. So what the heck, I was about to login anyway. So I clicked on the teleport link in the SLUrl and logged myself in to Second Life. As soon as I arrived in the area I went ahead and bought my very own 1L shapegen device. I noticed that there were a few people nearby so I assumed that the blog link was referring folks.
While there - in fact JUST after I clicked the buy button someone removed the prims. Most odd, I think, I should investigate. I look up at the culprit and see that Cadroe Murphy is hovering nearby. Figuring that he was about to rez a new version that I should wait for I passed the time by complimenting him on his creations. Cadroe took the compliment with grace and then shared that he was a bit stuck. Turns out that he has recently moved to a private island rental where he is not allowed to vend items!

Well, we can't stand for that. Here he is providing what is basically a community service, after all. I immediately offered to host his objects for him. I took him over to the store front that Mera and I share at Dan Gerstort's. Cadroe whipped up a quick sign for the objects and we laid them out on the store floor.
While I as positioning the sign I accidentally delete the store itself! How's that for silly?
Yikes! Dan had just told me he was going to be unavailable for a bit and the store came from his inventory. I remembered him telling me he had gotten the store as a freebie though. By editing the nearby storefront I got the name of the creator and the object name. I said my goodbyes with Cadroe and made my way off to Yadni's Junkyard to scour for the object. So much stuff at Yadni's - it looked like it was going to be an all day ordeal trying to fix my mistake. While at Yadni's I grabbed the SL411 HUD. I also started searching on slexchange and slboutique. The object creator has his objects listed on slexchange - but 59 or so pages of stuff :)
My friend Roenik Newell was online so on the off chance she had a copy I IMed her asking about the object by name. She did not have it but started investigating for me. Not two freebie box failures later Roenik got back to me with the location of the object - and before I could TP there to check she was offering me a copy! How cool is that? Roenik, thank you for the help and for being you!
Here's a snapshot of the storefront AFTER I fixed it by adding back the walls :)
The shop at Dan's can be found in Huckleberry
I went ahead and added the objects to the front of Mera Pixel's store as well. Mera Pixel's store can be found in Osterhout
