Shelter and Live Music Event News + More

Coal recently posted an entry on her blog regarding the Shelter. It looks like she'll become the "facilities manager" of the Swinside area and the land will be tansferred to the regular Shelter landowner account. I was unable to attend that Friday meeting unfortunately. I did attend a follow-up meeting yesterday to discuss events. Coal will be managing the schedule at Swinside and the two Shelter locations will do their best to offer more events while minimizing scheduling conflicts.

Live music starts again in Swinside starting February 8th - we'll have two hours instead of one each Thursday night now. There will be an opening act on from 5:30-6:30PM SLT. Note that it's now 5:30 instead of a 5PM start to allow time between the end of Building Shelter and the start of the music event, as well as allowing some time for west coast U.S. SLitizens to get home and logged in after work. The headlining act will perform from 6:30-7:30 PM SLT.

The current live music schedule as of the moment can be seen below the fold.

Feb 8th - Kaklick Martin (tentatively scheduled, awaiting confirmation) will open for Cylindrian Rutabaga
Feb 15th - Mel Cheeky will open for Charles Coleman
Feb 21st - Capos Calderwood will open for Jaycatt Nico and Frogg Marlowe

I enjoy the fact that the last person to play before we took a holiday/new year break was Cylindrian and the first person to perform as we start things up again in February will be Cylindrian. She's a sweetheart and an amazing talent - I hope you can help us fill all three sims on the 8th kick things off right :)

---MORE---

Here's a nice blog entry at VToreality on Etherian Express. I've not heard Etherian's music. This article makes me want to go get some!

Another VToreality blog entry notes that Sterling Vineyards has an open mic night - a good opportunity for new musicians and the like to test the waters. Luckily I speak fluent typonese so had no trouble with that blog entry at all.

One completely off topic link for you in this entry: Second Life Howto. this site has some nice "howto" documents including how to use XMLRPC to talk to objects in SL from your web pages, and a nice article that gives some details on how to use your web server's mysql database to store persistent information for in-world objects. The site includes plenty of LSL and PHP to dig into and learn from.

*turning all kinds of shade of red* I am the world's worst speller you know.... I usually run everything through a spell check, but that little blurb on the open mic I rushed to get out... hoping some new musicians might get a chance to make it that evening.

Thanks for calling me one it, and making me realize I must be more careful! :)
