SL Musicians Java Jam at the Royal Bean in NC Rebroadcast to Shelter in Swinside

Cylindrian Rutabaga has organized a RL to SL mashup live music event. In the world of 90% water based avatars Cylindrian and a slew of musicians will be playing at Royal Bean Coffee House, 1300 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, NC. The event will be held this Saturday, February 10th from 1PM SLT (4PM EST) through 7PM SLT (10PM EST). In the world of little pixelated avatars we will be streaming the audio into the Shelter in Swinside.

Original independent music and modern technology combine to bring a performance from a live music venue to a worldwide listening audience. This Saturday the 10th of February the Royal Bean plays host to this cutting edge event which will be broadcast to the internet via an online virtual world named Second Life.

In the virtual world of Second Life everything is created by the users of the service. Their website, www.secondlife.com has the following to say about the virtual world: "We are a global community working together to build a new online space for creativity, collaboration, commerce, and entertainment. We strive to bridge cultures and welcome diversity. We believe in free expression, compassion and tolerance as the foundation for community in this new world."

Showtime's "The L Word" is the main corporate sponsor of this Java Jam event. "The L Word" is quickly gaining worldwide exposure through their presence in Second Life. You can visit “The L Word’s” website to find more information and a link to create your own account. As their webpage states "Sign up and join the more than 2,000,000 people enjoying Second Life. It's a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Customize your avatar, have a dance party with friends, play L Word games, watch clips and full episodes of the show, and more! Just download the software, go through a brief orientation, and start a second life now!"

Saturday, February 10th from 1PM SLT (4PM EST) through 7PM SLT (10PM EST).

    The Java Jam show at the Royal Bean's artist roster is as follows:

  • Charles E. Bristol Project: Dirty Blues/Slide Guitar: 4:30-5:30pm (1:30-2:30PM SLT)
  • Suzen Juel: Acoustic Roots/Blues: 5:30-7pm (2:30-4PM SLT)
  • David Csiszer: Acoustic Rock: 7-8pm EST (4-5PM SLT)
  • Grace Buford: Soulful Acoustic Folk: 8-10pm EST (5-7PM SLT)
