Challenge #7 Response: A New-To-Me Location
Mera posted the not-a-meme Challenge #7 a few days ago and I'm just getting time to post a reply.
"[...] our challenge today, my dearies, is to go somewhere new and tell us about it. "
Someplace New? AKA Can't rip it off!
Mera chose to visit Luskwood - an absolutely beautiful place in SL. It's quite an old community in SL years. I thought the furry Mera picture was priceless.
I've already been to Luskwood a few times so I cannot cheap out and use the same location. I've walked through the big tree, leapt around the tall bridges, and purchased various avatars.
As proof I offer you a few shots of "furry Dolmere". I purchased this avatar for Jaycatt Nico's second appearance playing his piano at the Shelter I believe. I had asked Jay to play a set as basically background music for the game I was hosting named Payment Podium. Jay seemed to have a lot of fun with it each time and frankly so did I! For his second appearance I handed out little tiger ear headbands and declared the day Kitty Day in honour of my favorite kitten on the keys! Does anyone reading this blog remember the event? :)

I decided to do my exploring in my furry avatar wondering if I would see any different behavior in others when interacting in this guise. As it turns out I really didn't meet or greet anyone so it was a failed experiment. I think I may keep the avvie on for a while yet just for the heck of it.
Someplace New AKA - Someplace borrowed :)
In order to complete the task before me, the challenge as posted by my purple goddess Mera, I had to actually visit a location. At first, as previously mentioned, I considered a great deal of cheating. When it became obvious to me that all you astute readers would immediately call me out on the Mera-Luskwood-Cavorting-And-Picture-Snapping plagiarism I decided I would devise a new and much more crafty means of cheating. As such I considered simply writing up one of my regular hangouts and trying to pass that off as a "new" location. "Meet Isabel" or "Wow, Swinside Looks Great!" or some such nonesense. It didn't take me long to realize that was not likely to work either.
Finally, I nearly fell over from the incredible foolproof cheat I thought up. Rather than actually find a new, never before visited by me location, I would allow one of my friends to do it for me! Right - find a friend in my friends list - click to get their profile - click the picks tab - look for something I've never heard of.
I chose my friend Chicki Bukowski, whom you may remember from an earlier blog entry here at Dolmere's "Sometimes obscene, always random rants and mumblings. A prok thing free blob(tm)."

One might note that Chicki lists me in her picks. As such I would go so far as to call this method a permium cheat and I may charge you a nominal fee now that you've read this far and surely borrowed my idea.
I decided to visit a place called "satanic visions". It's located in Kochoomo. The builders were nice enough to put up a poster with a directory of sections within the build.
- Satanic Altar, Pew, & Accessories
- Satanic Textures & Assorted Items
At the entrance to the texture shopping area there is a wall-hanging of Anton Szander Lavey:

- Satanic Art
To get a good view of the artwork on the wall you really have to use your camera controls to zoom around. The artwork is what one might expect with a hint of humor mixed in for good measure.

- Flames, Candle Flames, Wall Sconces, Fireplaces, Floor Torches, Zodia Signs
This one does make me wonder if they meant Zodiac signs or if this is some form of alternate spelling I'm not familiar with. In fact, so does their tip/donation/collection jar:Is Embrase another form of Embrace? According to my dictionary that is a no... but other dictionaries exist.
- Fire Boxes, Bon Fires, Relief Wall Plaques
- Classic Art Gallery
It's not a place for the pious nor is really a place for a new resident as it takes a bit of camera work to navigate around and find the cool nooks and crannies. As a build I like the place quite a bit. As a shop I also like the place quite a bit. Heck, maybe y'all can stop over and fill up on treats for halloween and whatnot :) Several people did pop in and out while I was there. I will not say it's a place to go for social interaction as most store fronts are not. They may run services in the altar area, if so I did not see any notices or placards about them.
That's my new-to-me location visit. I hope you have fun exploring one new place as well.
Oh, one last note - when I stepped around past the directory sign I was ever so warmly greeted:
[19:29] Satanic Gallery Greeter: Hello Dolmere, Welcome to The "Satanic Gallery"
Here you will find a collection of unique Satanic and Demonic Art,
Textures, Symbols and Worship Items all for your Dark pleasure.

I almost cheated and posted about the new building on my new land...you know, new. But then figured it wasn't right to cheat on my own challenge. :)

Oh, yes! I recall the night of PP with Jaycatt. Wow, that was early on in my SL experiance...kinda fun to think back to that. I think that was also around the time when Torley showed up for SF and being a stupid newbie, I didn't take any notice. Alas! ;_;
