Spence Wilder and Cylindrian Rutabaga Rocked The Shelter!

Thursday night Spence Wilder and Cylindrian Rutabaga played two hours of music at the Shelter in Swinside. Man, oh man, was it a great show! Spence was scheduled to play from 5:30-6:30PM SLT and Cylindrian was scheduled to start at 6:30 and end at 7:30. Instead they decided to surprise us all, and oh what a surprise it was. You see... Cyl and Spence live in the same area of the US. So they performed the concert from the same physical location and treated the crowd to a wonderful half hour or so of duets.

Spence took the stage first starting at about the chime of the half hour :)

Spence's blend of music includes covers that vary in selection. He joked through the evening that he was bouncing back and forth between songs from the 60s and songs from the 80s.

Spence's attitude is very similar to Cylindrian's. If you were not in the know you could go so far as to guess that they were brother and sister - they certainly dress and accessorize alike in SL. Further their personalities are both infused with good humour and light hearted fun imho.

Spence performed to a growing audience as his set continued. From my completely non-scientific observations I have concluded that this show was the BEST attended of any we have held at our Sky Stage so far.

As always it pleases me to see Shelter regulars in attendance as well as live concert regulars and of course several new residents getting their very first taste of the live music world available in Second Life.

As I mentioned Spence remained on stage while Cyl joined him at the mic. They played a great set of covers together before Cyl moved on to her wonderful original material.

As the night went on the crowd just got larger ultimately ending with the sim the stage is situated on being completely full requiring people to hang back a bit in the adjacent sim to watch.

The treat these two provided with their duet set was excellent. I'm positive that everyone lucky enough to have been present is pleased they attended such a great night of music, I know I am.

At one point they played a cover including lyrics calling for the police. I could not help myself so I threw my police cap, badge and belt on and ran to the stage to dance. Of course that was right after I got some people to move out of the full sim to make room so it came off looking particularly hinky. Oh well. I didn't grab a snapshot of it though.

As I mentioned - the audience kept growing through the night.

There were folks dancing everywhere. I spent most of my time dancing on one of our tables :)

Peeking at the mini-map through the night was amusing - so very many little green dots.

Cylindrian wrapped the night up with about a half hour of her original music. She started with Mattie's Runaway Train which is always a fun one. Along the way Spence was interacting a bit in the background as she would chat between songs. The whole evening was a blast!

Thanks Cylindrian, thanks Spence! You two are GREAT!
