Fashionistas Take Note!
An open source competitor to Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro is called "GIMP" or "The GIMP". Despite the name sounding like the unfortunate love slave in Pulp Fiction it's actually an image manipulation program. From the linked article:
"The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a free piece of software available for Windows, Mac and Linux Operating systems for tasks such as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. If you don’t want to pay for Photoshop, it is a viable alternative. To help you get to grips with it, we have dugg out the best Tutorials for you …"
GIMP can be used to create images to upload to Second Life. It can work on the skin, makeup and clothing templates supplied by Linden Lab and others. It can be used to create textures for building components, etc.
Go forth, multiply, and enjoy every second of it :)

I have tried GIMP but I still prefer PhotoShop. Besides, I have both in my USB pen.
