Response: Not-a-meme Challenge #16
This challenge was brought to us by Rose Farina. I'm overdue in responding to it so it's time to get caught up. As such, here I am to "Report On An Oddball Place In SL".
Aren't all places in SL oddball though?
To answer her own challenge Rose took us to a trailer park complete with propane tanks and rust. I suppose that is kinda oddball!
My SL cousin Akela Talamasca actually answered this challenge well before it was even posted when he wrote about the Hobo railroad. His blog post was an amusing read for me because shortly before reading it I had been TPed to this build several times when Isabel was unavailable. It was freaky to see a message "your home location is not available" and then end up at the hobo railroad. Linden Lab was trying to tell me something and I was not enjoying the conversation.
&uotTo complete this task I decided to go profile surfing again. I started going down my list of friends and checking out the picks that they have created. I think I hit paydirt with Merle Widget's picks.
"MegaBux - 100% RDA of WOOHOO!" is a funky little waterpark you may want to check out. I decided that an amusement park/waterpark/fun park thing was oddball compared to most of the stores/clubs/gardens one sees normally. I hope you agree.
The land's description states:
Famous giant slides and unique rides, plus FREE arcade games with weekly highscore prizes! (it's part funfair, part theme park)
Here are some screens of my visit to this amusement park. At key locations throughout the build you'll find elevator signage to help you get from one activity to another easily.
When you first arrive there is a ride straight ahead of you. It's called Physical Stupidity. I took a ride to see what it was like.
Strap in and hold on tight - this is a bumpy ride that tests the SL physics engine and your avatar's stomach.
After pressing the big green "go" button on the floor and being warned 6 ways to Sunday to be careful a gate closes and locks you in. The adventure pod you're sitting in (along with all other adventure pods whether empty or full) is released into the room. Then all hell breaks loose as the pods begin to smack around the room bumping into walls and each other.
What a rush.
After being thrown around like a pinball I decided to check out the slides. There is the choice of a light slide or a dark slide. Guess which one the skeleton took?
You first sit on an inner tube to begin your water-free waterpark ride. The inner tube is released onto a large tarp of sorts. You have to click the tarp in order to be released into the funnel.
Then... woosh... off you go!
... and go...
... and go...
Like many of the rides here you're in for your money's worth. They go on for a while as you get glimpses of the entire fun park.
One other ride I went on, which like the physics ride, was too fast for my snapper to snap. I just got garbled snow crash when I took shots. The bouncy bounce was fun as well, though, so take a look at it when you stop by.
There is also a laser tag arena which I did not go in to. If you're into gun games this might prove to be a fun experience for you and a few of your closest friends. It might actually be a fun little landmark to hand out to the new resident who hasn't yet learned that SL is a social environment more than a shooteremup grind game.

I love that trailer park! Been there several times. Had it in My Picks until I ran out of space. Living in rural southern USA it helps to keep things real when in SL. {:o)

Tinsel - thanks for reading. The trailer park is a neat build indeed - thanks to Rose for finding and sharing :)
