Ollie Kubrick's "ARC"
Caliandris Pendragon posted this over at VTOR (Virtual TO Reality): Exploring SL: ARC Caliandris returns to Ollie Kubrick's place and discovers the giant skeleton that Sarah Nerd wrote about earlier this month.
I linked to Sarah's piece in a previous quicklies article: Dolmere Talamasca - Second Life "resident": Quicklies In Traction (Somewhat SL Related)
Being curious how Caliandris missed the price tag on that skeleton I checked the SLEX entry and it's still listed at 6 million Linden dollars.
The answer came by visiting the build myself. The skeleton on display is not marked for sale. In fact, nothing on display is marked for sale including the items on the "Buy an Ollie" bookshelf.
Looking around I was very impressed with his skills - Ollie sure does some great work. I still think YadNi's skeleton kicks the heck out of Ollie's but the prim count difference is considerable. Apples and Oranges should not be directly compared I guess.
Speaking of comparisons - I also compared YadNi's Robbie the robot to Ollie's and, in this case, I feel that Ollie's wins.
Here's an interesting twist - while I was putting together this post (originally intended to be included with a quicklies link round up, btw) I was contacted by Ollie in IM. It's quite unusual for a vendor to do a personal follow up with someone who dropped by to browse, so I was rather impressed.
Ollie Kubrick: Hi I saw u visited the ARC, what did u think of it?
Dolmere Talamasca: Some nice stuff indeed. I find it odd that nothing posted is for sale though - only through SLX?
Dolmere Talamasca: When I right clicked items on the bookshelf I got no prompt to buy.
Ollie Kubrick: ya i had to even be dragged kicking and screaming into that :)
Ollie Kubrick: My goal is corporate
Ollie Kubrick: and it sems to be working out
Dolmere Talamasca: that's good news for you then - I wish you all the luck. You have a great talent.
Ollie Kubrick: thank you
Ollie Kubrick: I see on ur profile u have a skeleton too
Dolmere Talamasca: May I quote you on my blog? I took some pics including the skeleton sculpture and Robbie the robot.
Ollie Kubrick: plz do, I would be grateful
Dolmere Talamasca: It's made by YadNi Monde - it's absolutely gorgeous.
Ollie Kubrick: ah yes I met him too very nice person
Ollie Kubrick: he liked mine and I his :)
Ollie Kubrick: I tend to get along w/ skeleton people hehe
Dolmere Talamasca: thanks Ollie - it was nice chatting with you. Nice of you to reach out to your visitors.
