We have a few songs from Silke queued up as sibling songs but Paradise Tennent sent one along for us today. She sent us Sleep Well Destroyer's song Born To Shine currently at 416 from 123.

SIBLING RIVALRY REVIEW!
We started the sibling bumps as an open public facing group bump because there was some anti-SL sentiment floating around t61 that I personally feel is unwarranted. Read about it here: http://www.thesixtyone.com/forum/topic/1308/
As we hit our 10th day of "sibling rivalry" bumping I thought it would be a good time for us to review.
WHAT WE GROUP BUMPED
POL Arida's song "1". Started at 68 / 30. Ended the next day at 221 / 60. Today it's at 264 / 70. (SL)
Beth Odets's Amazing Grace. Started at 34 / 17. Ended the next day at 141 / 44. Today it's at 156 / 47. (SL)
Spaceman Opus's Full Circle. Started at 55 / 23. Ended the next day at 107 / 37. Today it's at 118 / 40. (SL)
Joe Cang's Blue. Started at 75 / 53. Ended the next day at 158 / 67. Today it's at 210 / 79. (Sibling)

Doubledown Tandino's Clav-Rho Style. Started at 90 / 25. Ended the next day at 152 / 45. Today it is at 153 / 45. (SL)
Dust & Blood's Cops Kiss & Drool. Started at 52 / 36. Ended the next day at 137 / 62. Today it is at 151 / 69. (Sibling)
Jaycatt Nico's song Jaycatt's Boogie. Started at 92 / 34. Ended the next day at 182 / 62. Right now it is at 209 / 66. (SL)
Life(Stream)'s Blue Waltz. Started at 28 / 16. Ended today at 52 /27. (Sibling)
Look at the wide variety of results here. It's clear to me that it's not the same exact people bumping every song out of loyalty. I think that the numbers show that we have a bunch of music lovers bumping what they like as they get time, would you not agree?

Looking over the total we find that over 10 days 14 songs have been group bumped. Of those 14 a whopping 5 of them hit the front page. 30 total songs hit the front page meaning that 25 artists with SL accounts saw songs hit the front page while not being the targets of any group activity.
Why did those songs hit the front page? That would be because users who earned points are spending them on what they, the listener, enjoy. The same exact way that all songs make the home page.
COMMENT WALL DISCUSSION DURING THAT TIMEFRAME
There are still some sporadic comments around and about the water cooler. To each his/her own. I just thought I would take a quick moment to mention one exchange I noticed along the way while we were doing our thing here.

Totally missed your comment in the forum from a couple weeks ago. Agreed on the 2ndLife influx... a lot of stuff that I wouldn't even consider bumping was screaming to the front page all of a sudden. Not that it is totally crap, but there is TONS of better stuff on here. Thanks for putting my thoughts to words, I hope it didn't cause you too much guff.
Now... the Sesame Street horde is cool... right?"
Things like Supergrover's comment here is nothing but a bit of sour grapes because some music that he personally doesn't like made the home page. There's nothing wrong with personal opinion and he's not accusing anyone of wrongdoing - he's just saying he doesn't like the music other people enjoy. Not everyone has the same tastes and if they did t61 wouldn't really exist :) Also note the date - this was before the sibling rivalry bumps started.

I agree that the Second Life thing is a bigger issue than what's being pushed in the forums. Not trying to blackball all Second Life artists, but a lot have really done some pretty fishy things. I've been around long enough to notice these type of things. =)"
On the flipside there are still some comments like this one from lucy saying that a lot of SL artists have done some pretty fishy things. Like eatabagel's early claims (which we've all moved beyond) this continues to sterotype a group for no reason. There is no evidence of fishy things. There is nothing to backup the claim. I have no problem with lucy directly but I do think that she's really pushing a dead issue here. Look at the above results. Think about the 135+ new people who have created their own personal accounts on t61 having discovered it from SL.
What is being pushed in the forums is my group's activities. I have no knowledge at all of any funny business and I believe that our bump bombs and our sibling rivalry bumps are GREAT positive activities that anyone should be pleased to be a part of. The direct results of our continued group activities can be seen at the top of this blog entry.
SUMMARY
I'm still having a lot of fun on t61. I'm really enjoying the sibling rivalry bumps and will continue it as long as it seems to make sense. I'm hopeful that others are enjoying it as well.
It is my hope that this level of detail will help to eliminate the anit-SL sentiment as a stereotyping thing. I'm hoping that as we continue to pretend to pull each others' hair in the back seat of the station wagon Sam and James are driving down route 61 we'll move way beyond the simple matter of how people found the site and let the music rule as it should. It's not an ideal world, hell it's not an ideal second world either, but as long as we're having fun it can be an ideal road trip.
Comments
Here's my 0.02L .. As far as I'm concerned we've moved well beyond the SL bashing thing, largely thanks to Dolmere who stuck his neck out. I´ve also noticed increasing communications between SL bumpers and others.
It may have come as an eye-opener to some that an SL image in a profile is about as valid as that of a rodent. However, I do believe that most listeners on the61 have figured out how to listen to music with their ears, not their eyes.
I applaud the notion of the sibling bumps, a stroke of genius! I think they are great fun and add an extra element to the SL bump bombs. They also demonstrate the notion of the61 as a community, which IMHO all SL artists and bumpers are a part of as much as anyone else.
One thing I would say though, is that the idea of a sibling song which has already been bumped more than 400 times and revived once does not appeal to me personally. I would prefer people to submit songs and artists that have so far failed to receive the attention they think they deserve.
That said, I'll happily join in the bumping of any track that works for me, be it an SL artist or not. The road trip may be bumpy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing in this case ;-)

At first I didn't care for the sibling rivalry format, but it was really my own problem. I was finding myself bumping stuff I didn't like because the artist was in SL, and not even listening to the "rival" tunes. I am now listening to all the song picks and bumping only the ones I like enough to spend points on. It's a lot more enjoyable this way and I appreciate finding new music, regardless of whether the artist is molecular or pixelated.
