Different-yet-the-same continued - Fillet
While I was on my wonderful vacation in Great Britain I got the wild idea to pick up a little notebook. I used it to jot down things that I found of interest. You know - turns of phrase, colloquialisms, verbal oddities. Things that made me go hmmmm really.
"Fillet of fish"
________________________________
"Fillet of fish" - Pronounced fill-it of fish, not fill-lay. Yeah, this is a minor one but it was still interesting to me when a McDonalds TV ad would come of for their fill-it o' fish.
Speaking of TV commercials - wow! I expected the three channels of cheese making one sees in European vacation. Instead I got satelite TV with hundreds of channels containing almost every single piece of current US TV programming I watch - right, current new episodes. WOW. Just one of MANY examples of the Americanization of England.
