SL Veterans Push Back Boundaries In SL Live Music Presentation For Cancer Benefit
Second Life, June 8, 2008 – Second Life Residents and long-time collaborators Spence Wilder and Nomad Rovio are today formally announcing an exciting live music presentation to benefit the ACS Relay For Life 2008 SL campaign. The event, entitled "Ride for Relay" will offer an immersive live music experience, set in the London Underground and will feature techniques not used before in Second Life live music presentation. There will be two performances of the show this coming Wednesday, 11th June at 11am and 7pm SLT/PDT that are open to all live music fans, kiosks to benefit the Relay For Life campaign will be available to accept donations for this worthy cause!
The event itself has been greatly aided by a network of supporters including the Relay Raiders RFL Team of which Rovio is a member and Skybeam Estates who are providing the region where the event will be located. "Our special thanks go out to Nevar Lobo and Charlene Trudeau who answered our rally call instantly and have gone that extra mile to help ensure this project came to life" said Rovio and Wilder.
"This will be an exciting event that adds a new dimension to live music presentation in Second Life and one which we hope will not only raise a substantial amount of money for Relay For Life but also continue to raise awareness of the campaign, one in three of us will have our lives touched by cancer, one in five will die and we need to change that! Every little really does help and the research, the support and other activities the ACS are involved with make a difference, it's my hope that folks will come out Wednesday, enjoy a great show and maybe throw the price of a burger or a cup of coffee in a kiosk, it's a small price to pay, this may be a virtual world but cancer is very real and together we can make a difference!" said Rovio, himself a cancer survivor. "I've lost a number of people, seems I keep losing people to this damn thing so for me this is a big deal, we need to make that difference!" added Wilder.
About Spence Wilder
Second Life troubadour Spence Wilder has been doing his solo acoustic show in-world for over a year. Haven't caught it yet? Expect the unexpected. Taking "unplugged" to new heights, Spence plays the widest variety of cover songs you'll ever hear in one show. And he'll play some original music and tell some stories too. Just back from the dead, he's a ghost, a neko, a zombie; he's just a guy. But his shows will make you smile and turn it up. C'mon, all the cool kids are doing it...
